Architectural Finish Performance Tiers
Our commercial warranties explicitly guarantee the decorative finish against cracking, checking, blistering, peeling, or delaminating from the aluminum substrate when evaluated from standard architectural viewing distances. Coverage is categorized by the specified engineering chemistry tier invoiced for your project:
| Finish Specification | Active Warranty Duration | Ideal Applications | Performance Benchmarks |
|---|---|---|---|
| AAMA 2604 | 10-Year Warranty | High-traffic commercial storefronts, retail entries, and premium architectural cladding. |
|
| AAMA 2605 | 20-Year Warranty | High-rise curtain walls, monumental commercial projects, and severe architectural environments |

Understanding Our Performance Metrics
Q: What does the "Max 5 ΔE Color Fade Limit" mean?
In the architectural coating industry, Max 5 ΔE (Delta E) is the standard mathematical unit used to measure changes in color. A value of 0 indicates a flawless, completely unweathered color match, while a change of 1 is the absolute smallest variance visible to the human eye.
By guaranteeing a Max 5 ΔE limit, Decora® legally promises that over your entire 10 or 20 year warranty period, your building’s finish is chemically shielded against intense solar UV rays. Any natural weathering will remain so minimal and evenly distributed that the color will stay deep, uniform, and virtually unchanged to the naked eye.
Q: What does an "ASTM D4214 No. 8 Chalking Rating" mean for my project?
Over time, intense sun exposure can break down the chemical ingredients in low-grade outdoor finishes, causing a dusty, chalk-like film to form on the surface, this is an industry phenomenon called chalking. ASTM D4214 is the global laboratory testing standard used to mathematically measure this powdering by wiping a specialized fabric against the coated finish. The official rating scale runs from 1 to 10, where a 10 represents absolute brand-new perfection with zero residue. Our guarantee of a No. 8 rating or higher ensures that your Decora® finish is chemically engineered with premium binders to withstand the elements, promising nothing more than a trace, minor amount of surface dust over decades of outdoor exposure.
Warranty Eligibility & Exclusions Notice
Required Annual Upkeep: This finish warranty is strictly conditional upon standard care. The building owner must perform basic cleaning on an annual basis using a soft sponge or cloth with fresh water and a mild, non-abrasive soap formulated within a strictly controlled pH scale of 5 to 9. The facade must be rinsed thoroughly using a standard low-pressure garden hose. A continuous, written maintenance log detailing dates and methods must be preserved by the owner.
Strict Prohibitions: Pressure washing and the deployment of harsh commercial chemical solvents (such as acetone or MEK), abrasive media, or strongly acidic/alkaline compounds are strictly prohibited and will instantly nullify coverage.
Service Limitations: This certificate exclusively warrants powder coating finish performance, decorative color/gloss retention, and adhesion. Because Decora® is a custom coating applicator and does not manufacture or erect raw metal profiles, we provide no warranty parameters regarding architectural installation workmanship, panel construction, post-processing fabrication cuts, or physical material metal buckling. Decora®’s exclusive liability is strictly limited to repairing or refinishing the specific affected coating area at its sole discretion. This warranty is issued solely to the original registered purchaser and is strictly non-transferable and non-assignable.
